CHAPTER 5: ASSIST IN REVIEW OF SECURITY RESPONSES

  • Participate in Response Review of security responses and provide observations in a clear, concise and constructive manner.
  • Identify effects of stress related to own well-being and use appropriate stress management techniques. As part of Response Review, stress management is crucial.
  • Identify areas, in discussion with relevant persons, for improving future response procedures and for reducing the effects of stress. Moreover, reviewing responses is an essential part of ongoing Response Review practices.

5.1 Participate in review of security responses and provide observations in a clear, concise and constructive manner.

  • Security experts are needed to audit security risk management as part of an ongoing Response Review process and ensure that the audit results are considered in the ongoing risk assessment actions.
  • Audits must be conducted to discover areas where compliance can be improved to drive continual progress.

Measuring and evaluating performance as part of continuous improvement

  • Security professionals must measure existing security risk management performance, evaluate progress and feed the outcomes of this process back into ongoing security risk management.
  • Security professionals must ensure that a documented plan for ongoing measurement, evaluation and monitoring of security is in place.
  • Whenever there is a security incident, relevant findings from any investigation or review must be fed into the security risk management process and incorporated into the security improvement plan to prevent a recurrence and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Regular, relevant information on security-related matters, including the outcomes of security surveys, must be provided to the Chief Executive and the Governing Boards.

5.2 Identify effects of stress related to own well-being and use appropriate stress management techniques.

  • A significant situation may cause concern since it might be terrifying.
  • This can be damaging when someone has demands and expectations incompatible with their needs, capabilities, talents, and coping mechanisms.
  • Performance and general well-being can suffer as a result of stress.

The following are possible short- and long-term consequences of a critical incident:
