1.1 Read WHS and emergency procedures and workplace policies and apply to work tasks to ensure compliance with legal rights and responsibilities.
The duties and obligations of a security guard do not end with guarding, monitoring, patrolling, and reporting criminal behaviour to authorities. They may be expected to run errands, respond to texts and phone calls from their boss, and take on additional responsibilities at times. Understanding the tasks and responsibilities of unarmed security guards will allow us to collaborate with them more effectively.

- Make an emergency plan, including an effective response to emergencies.
- Test the plan.
- Maintain the plan so that it’s always effective.
- Arrange training for workers on the emergency plan and the procedures in it.
- Implement the plan in an emergency and follow emergency services’ instructions.
